Diesel and Turbine Alternators
 
Diesel driven and turbine driven alternators are designed
maintenance-free as brushless synchronous machines with
self-contained exciter for constant voltage output and short
response time when ever larger consumers are switched on and
off. They have laminated salient pole rotors or drum rotors, ball
bearings or sleeve bearings and are air cooled by machinery
room air or in a closed cooling air circuit with air/water heat
exchanger (cooler).
