SAM Electronics at Posidonia
Hamburg, 26 May, 2008: This year's Posidonia Exhibition (June 2nd -
6th), will see SAM Electronics, an L-3 Communications company, feature
its latest navigations aids and automation hardware from its extensive
product portfolio. Exhibits will include the BSH and USCG type-approved
Multipilot 1100 multi-function navigation workstation combining ARPA
radar, ECDIS, conning and automatic steering control functions. Also
featured will be the similarly type-approved Chartpilot 1100 ECDIS system
developed for planning, navigation monitoring and conning station
operations and designed for either desktop or console mounting. Multipilot
and Chartpilot exhibits are housed in award-winning design consoles.
Automation exhibits include the MCS 2200 integrated control assembly
with newly-developed standardised modular workstations providing rapid
acquisition, processing and display of data while also extending and
simplifying all main ship operating functions. Automation demonstrations
will be possible through a desktop Panel PC.
SAM Electronics will also feature its Alternative Maritime Power (AMP)
Shore Connection System (SCS). The modular SCS SAMCon is designed
for installations on large and small container vessels with 6,600V or 440V
main switchboards and maximum 6.8 MVA. Development of the system
came as a response to the huge exhaust gas emission from ships
berthing at ports. It is in accordance with the requirements for
environmental friendly power supplies within ports, mitigating air pollution
and protecting civil health.
SAM Electronics will be featured on its local agent, Environmental
Protection Engineering´s stand (No 212). Together with EPE,
SAM Electronics opened a service station in Greece in 2005 to be closer
to its Greek customers and which is increasingly carrying out service
activities and retrofits on tankers, bulkers, container vessels and ferries in
the Mediterranean.
