Major Cruise & Ferry Equipment Orders for SAM Electronics Group

Hamburg, July 1, 2011 – Hamburg-based SAM Electronics and associated L-3
companies announced at Nor-Shipping 2011 major orders for their latest NACOS
Platinum series of integrated navigation and automation control systems for
installation aboard new cruiseliners and ferries under construction in leading
European yards.

The commissionings include a joint NACOS and Valmarine VALMATIC Platinum
system combining wide-ranging navigation and automation functions using
standardised hardware and software for Carnival Cruise Lines’ new 130,000-gt
liner, Carnival Breeze, being built at Fincantieri’s Monfalcone yard. Scheduled for
delivery next spring, the 306-metre vessel - the third in Carnival’s Dream Class - is
the largest to be so far assembled by Fincantieri.

Similar NACOS and VALAMTIC Platinum integrated systems have also been
ordered for two 143,500-gt liners building at Meyer Werft’s Papenburg yard on
behalf of Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL); supplementary VALMATIC automation
equipment includes safety management and emergency shutdown systems while
L-3 Dynamic Positioning & Control Systems are to provide joystick control
facilities. Due for completion in 2013 and 2014 respectively, the vessels will be
the largest liners to be built in Germany.

Meanwhile, in Norway, two new 1,500 passenger cruise ferries for Fjord Line of
Denmark are also to be equipped with identical NACOS Platinum configurations
ordered from Valmarine. Built by Bergen Group Fosen in Norway for completion
next year, both vessels are destined for service routes between Bergen, Stavanger
and Hirtshals.

Providing unprecedented operational features in terms of usability and scalability
via common networked components, the NACOS Platinum series of integrated
control systems are further characterised by exceptional ease of installation,
maintenance and use while ensuring the highest possible standards of operational
safety. The latest cruise industry orders for systems follow recent Platinum
upgrading by SAM Electronics’ subsidiary, Lyngsø Marine, Denmark, of earlier
NACOS bridge assemblies aboard three Star Cruises’ vessels, Star Pisces,
Superstar Aquarius and SuperStar Libra.
