SAM Group at Nor-Shipping 2011
HAMBURG, April 11, 2011 L-3 Marine & Power Systems companies,
SAM Electronics, L-3 Valmarine, Lyngsø Marine and APSS, are exhibiting an
extensive range of systems and services on L-3 Valmarine’s stand in Hall C,
No CO4-32A, which runs May 24-27.
Products demonstrated include a combined NACOS (Integrated Navigation and
Control System) and VALMATIC Platinum assembly, L-3’s newest vessel
control system offering unprecedented levels of scalability for navigation and
automation applications for new builds as well as retrofits. The series is based
on modular components and utilizes a common network for enhanced levels of
operational safety and convenience. Systems have already been ordered,
including two for new Norwegian Fjord Line cruise ferries due for delivery in
2012, two NCL new builds at Meyer Werft, one for Carnival Cruise Line’s new
Carnival Breeze, and a further three are also to be retrofitted to Malaysian-
based Star Cruises’ vessels.
Energy and drive capabilities highlighted include advanced diesel electric
propulsion systems with power ratings ranging from 1 MW to 25 MW. These
ensure optimum levels of safety as a result of innovative frequency converter
design as well as redundant assembly layouts. Among the latest orders are
systems for two new 141,000-gt liners under construction for Princess
Cruises.
Additional SAM highlights cover presentation of Electro-Cleen System (ECS),
an IMO-approved ballast water treatment system developed by marine
environment specialists, TECHCROSS. It is designed to prevent ecological
and economic damage by the use of advanced electrolysis technology.
